Dear all,
after so many failed trials, hope to to get some help around here. No matter what I do to the solver and case setup, after 20-30 time steps, simulations crashes with negative temperature.

This case describes bottom blown argon gas injection in the liquid metal (steel).

Simple schematic of the case is below.

I am only interested in the influence of the liquid and outlet (under)pressure on the density of the gas and therefore on the gas-liquid interface dynamics and surface area, namely bubble agglomeration, breakup, growth, ..... For now, temperature effects (cold gas and warm steel) are out of question, until the pressure influence is resolved and runs smoothly.

I am providing the link to the case (OpenFOAM 9).

If someone has an idea of what could be the problem and how to treat this properly, I would be most grateful.

Kind regards!

Interestingly I am working on a solver that assumes that you shall have vacuum. It is a tough problem.

Thank you very much for the reply. Do you think it would be possible to get a solution within compressibleInterFoam if there is 300 Pa fixed at the outlet?

Cheers!

I think in openFOAMs, the blastFoam is your best bet for this problem.

Still the vacuum will be big stabiltiy problem as expected.
