Hi, I used quite some time some years back trying to implement something alike.
This kind of bcs seem relatively easy to implement for Cartesian grids but not in a general unstructured code as far as I see it. In case you could suggest something in OpenFOAM, let me know.

Hi, I don't have those trials anymore. I have looked mostly at supersonic jet cases. I came to the conclusion that for that application, it is often easiest and best bc to just extend outlets so far that there is no back reflection (coarse background grid, stretching etc). A few percent more cells to mesh and often very good and physical inlet and outlet bcs can be given. More info in our papers on supersonic jets:
