Converting 2D solution to 3D

I'm trying to take a case I have in 2D, over several hundred time steps, and convert the solution into one large 3D solution to run in another solver. I've tried using mapFields, but it is too slow for larger cases, and I was hoping someone might know of a different and faster way of doing this.
