Dear Foamers,
For my project work, i have to model a porous media which is based on porosity (change porosity based on physical voids or obstacles) in OpenFOAM for validating permeability of the porous media. I have already simulated using porous zone with help of Darcy Forchheimer law. But its working based on pressure difference between inlet to outlet and i have to define my permeability. For better understanding, i have to perform Darcy's experiment to obtain permeability of the porous media. How can i model a physical porous media in OpenFOAM? Thanks in advance, Dhinesh Bala |

Hi there,
I'm not sure what kind of porous media you're using, I'm working with textiles. If I got you right, you would like to simulate the flow through the porous media and calculate the permeability tensor right? Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no easy way to do it. There are different papers availabe dealing with that topic, like Verleye does a lot on that area (eg. http://link.springer.com/chapter/10....-540-70658-8_6). At my University a tool was developed which calculates the permeability. Maybe that's your task to code such a tool Unfortunately I won't be able to help you with that. Regards, Mojo |
