Hello OpenFOAM users.

I decided to make a simple test:

- make a video of a small water tank filling with water
- make a simulation

[/IMG]

But the path to this result was unexpectedly long. As shown in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJqs9RNy5bM different solvers and turbulence models give such a different results.

Type "cfd filling tank" in youtube and you'll see many videos with results that look like from another universe. Still, people comment this videos like: "very nice simulation...". Ok, maybe they are nice, but they are wrong.

Now to my question. If a simple case like water filling tank is that hard to simulate, how on earth you start with BC, solvers and turbulence models in a case where you have very small information about the process.

Even if you have a lot of information about your problem, how sure can you be in your results until you test it in real life?

Thank you for your answers.
