Hi everyone,

I am using OpenFOAM (SprayFoam) to simulate the spray problem in a gas turbine (liquid jet in cross flow)

1. In the spray class of OpenFAOM, there are two Atomization model: BlobsSchet and LISA model.

I have try both of them in my problem, I notice a difference is that LISA calculate a rosin rammler distrubution after the liquidCore. But BlobsSheet does not. And I don't know why?

Could any one tell me the main difference of this two Atomization model?
The atomization process happens in the liquidCore or out the liquidCore?

2. Another problem is about the Breakup Model.

In OpenFOAM 2.0 I have noticed taht a new breakup model: PilchErdman model is implemented. And with this model I have got very good results for my spray problem. I have also try with other breakup model like TAB, ETAB, ReitzKHRT, ReitzDiwakar, but the results (spray penetration and SMD) ist not so good.

Has anyone also try with those different breakup model and it would be nice that you can tell me some difference of these different breakup model.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I came across this thread while doing my own investigation in spray modeling. For most of the atomization and breakup models, you can find details of the implementation in

$FOAM_SRC/lagrangian/dieselSpray/spraySubModels/atomizationModel$MODEL/$MODEL.H

I gave the example for atomization, but its similar for breakup as well. In the comments section it should give references to publications which give details. You can also look at the files through the online documentation.

Dear chenkai,

I am try to model a pressure-swirl atomizer with LISA model in sprayFoma, but I don't know how to set up the case (I am really fresh on OpenFOAM). Can you share the setting files for the LISA model?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Better way to track all the settings without any ones help is to follow error messages while running the case.
Specify you Atomization model as LISA and run.
It will give an error message saying keyword LISACoffs missing. then enter that keyward are run again. it will ask for all the keywards and corresponding values.

All the best!!
