Dear all,
Does pointwise have an automatic blocking utility that can decompose the domain into blocks (for structured grid generation). I am working on a wall mounted cube mesh (i.e., the flow past a wall mounted cube). Thanks

No unfortunately not.
There does however exist a script to convert an H-block into OH blocking. Because H blocks are typically easy to build, it can handy for those specific situations. See the two pictures I made for a pipe. To go from H to OH took literally about 10 sec with the script. You can grab that script (among many others) from Pointwise's github page: https://github.com/pointwise Also, to speed up block assembly once you've created the connectors defining the edges of the block topology, provided the dimensions are correct, one simply needs to select the defining connectors for the block, click Assemble Blocks. Pointwise will create the necessary domains and figure out how to assemble the block. If the dimensions weren't quite right, even though it won't assemble the block it will still assemble as some domains - helpful regardless. Beyond that, I may be able to provide some specific guidance if you post of picture of geometry or configuration. |

Daniel,
Here's an excellent video tutorial on multi-block structured meshing Pointwise released today. This demonstrates many helpful tips, including using the scripts I mentioned, for speeding up the structured meshing process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZTPfd00Oog -Chris |
