Hi,

I'd like to analyze a flow system which has a large reservoir (cavity) and the inlet port that attached to the cavity (flow inside structure).
Then, I am often faced with a surface with a hole in it.
(surface is not flat and hole is a circle)

Of course, using unstructured domain -Assemble Special command- can make domain easily.
But I wonder if there are any methods to make it with structured domain (hexahedron)

I've tried to add extra lines connecting a hole and a surface in order to split the surface. But, I have difficulty detecting lines that matches between hole and curved surface.

please give me some advice.

Thanks

It's too long to describe the procedure step-by-step here. It can be done but it takes some planning. See attached images for pointers.

Thanks for your answering.

But still, I've not yet to solve it. So, I'd like to ask some very simple questions....

Assume that the job is to create flat surface with interior region ( ~circle) in a structured domain (like attachment #1)

I planned it as follows

1. make a interior circle with structured domain (attachment #2)
2. draw lines connecting circle to outer edges in order to divide regions (#3)
3. For each regions, creating structured domain

But, in case of #4

I can't create structured domain surrounded with line1,2,3,4 & curve 5

I adjust all dimensions

(line 1 : 9
line 2 : 19
line 3 : 18
line 4 : 10
curve 5 : 10)

but I failed. I think it's about the spacing problem so I adjust spacing approximately but I also failed.....

What is the problem ??

Best regards.

You're close.

Start by rotating the O-H topology in the circle by 45 deg. 1st image

Then proceed to split the vertical and horizontal connectors at the rectangular boundary to match the 4 corners of O-H. 2nd image

Draw and dimension connectors from 4 corners of O-H to newly created nodes. 3rd image

Assemble 8 rectangular domains with bounding and new connectors. 4th image.

My last post would give you the best quality mesh but if you'd like to use your orientation, here's what it would look like. I added connector dimensions to indicate how the domains would be assembled. You'll need to the smooth the domains afterwards using Grid>Solve and the Steger-Sorensen boundary control function.

I did it!!

I didn't think about the idea to rotate topology.

And, I newly knew how to split command properly.
(Previously, I estimated the coordinates....)

I really appreciate your explanations

hello sir ,

I made a domain and assign everyside(4 sides) as farfield.Later, i need to modify my one of the boundary condition as outflow .But i am unable to do that .In boundary condition option it is showing only one option as unspecified.can anyone please help me?
