I loaded the STL file into both Pointwise and MeshMixer. I get the same data in both applications. As best I can tell, the STL file does not contain all the geometry you think it does.
Any chance you can post the SLDASM file (solidworks)? Also, did you know that you can import the SLDASM file directly into pointwise? After importing the SLDASM file, you generate the mesh on the precise surfaces! In general, you will get better meshes using the CAD data directly. Meshing on STL surfaces is *not* as precise as meshing on CAD data. Which version of Pointwise are you using? |

Thanks for the CAD files. Unfortunately, they do not load into Pointwise v17.3R3 either! There is an EMPTY ASSEMBLY error.
These files load properly into eDrawings 2015 x64. So, it looks like we have a bug! Is it okay to share these files with our CAD technology vendor in France? I assume yes since you posted them on a public website. I do not know how to use solidworks. I suspect you must select all parts before exporting to STL. Have you tried exporting to other formats besides STL? Catia, STEP, etc are all precise formats and might load properly into Pointwise. v17.1 is a very old version! If you can, I strongly suggest you upgrade to the latest version of Pointwise. It has many new features, bug fixes, and the CAD reader is better. |
