I'm not sure what version of glibc is required by...

I'm not sure what version of glibc is required by STAR-CCM+, but mine is 2.23 and works. Try upgrading your glibc?

Does this happen in serial as well?

What do you mean you discarded the MPI libraries? You deleted them? Why?

It sounds like you need to re-install.
