No. I don't have any papers but it would be good. As a general rule if the problem is axisymmetrical use cylindrical. If you are unsure test it against a cartesian.

When using cylindrical it is suggested to use 2-D with an angle less than 90 degrees. The simulation can still be viewed in 3-D by revolving the results. This speeds up the simulation time...
