After merging meshes, you must still have quads between the volumes. you could delete those or call them a fluid fluid interface... Are the volumes on both sides in the same part...

Definitely don't display the mesh ;^)

I am assuming that the interface part(s) are only used for the interface and the perimeters are all properly associated with curve associated nodes on both...
