The New Zealand kind (Fur Seals) are friendly with swimmers, opposed to the European kind (Harbour Seals). Actually, they're quite nosey. I took the opportunity when I was down there a few years ago....

not diving, but head down to NZL south island and...

not diving, but head down to NZL south island and go swimming with the fur seals at Kaikoura.
