I'm trying to follow a tutorial on how to generate a wing profile in starccm+ ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuIu...rnwBLk8BHFEsW0 , at 4:25). My problem is that I can't load my csv file into starccm+. I tried to save it as three different csv files (the ones possible in excel) and none worked. I get the error message "unable to read the input .csv file. Please check the format of the file." Does anyone know how I can save it in a correct csv format? I uploaded my excel worksheet with the blade geometry.

I know it's been a long time since this was first posted, but because I had a similar issue I figured I should go ahead and post a reply.
What's probably happening is that you have copied the aerofoil coordinates into Excel as instructed, but you didn't notice that the X and Y values are pasted into the same cell. You can confirm this by opening the .cvs file using a simple text editor and checking if you have something like "X1 Y1, , Z1" when it should be "X1, Y1, Z1" instead. This problem can be easily fixed by selecting the column containing both X and Y coordinates in Excel and using the split text into columns wizard: select the column -> DATA -> Text to Columns -> Delimited -> Next -> Delimiters (probably "Space") -> Next -> Finish. Then you can add the Z column and you'll be able to import the .csv file into STAR CCM+. |
