Heat Transfer/CFD software packages

Just wanted to get some feedback on which software package you "hardcore" mechanicals recommend to simulate pipe flow with heat transfer. I have done a bit of research and there are quite a few packages to choose from. I see that Star CD is used quite extensively in this subject but in the same token I am not sure if there is a student version available with the capabilities I need. I know that ANSYS does offer a student version at an attractive price. Help me please.
