how to read a gridpro 2d file into starcd shell

Folks: I have created a gridpro2d grid and am trying to read that into starcd. These are the steps i am taking.
1. Created a gridpro 2d grid file. saved in starcd format. I have a .vrt and .cel file from this operation. 2. Created a shell in starcd and tried to read in the .vrt and .cel files 3. Starcd reads .vrt file but cannot read the .cel file. The problem appears to be the format of .cel file. Could anyone suggest how to read the gridpro 2d file into starcd. Thanks PRC |

There seems to be a bug in the GripPro converter en dealing with 2d cases.
Use "chfmt blk.tmp -f nas" (Save in Nastran Format) Inside prostar use dire read nast file.nas mate |

Hi: Followed your suggestion but some how starcd had a problem reading the nastran file format. The problem is the appearance of zero in the file. In my problem, there are vertices on the y-axis, whose x-coordinate is zero. Gridpro dumps zero as 0.0. Not the format starcd looks for. So shifted the center line by a small number and was able to readin. After creating extruding this shell by about 5 degrees and imposing symmetry conditions on both angular faces, I created a 2d axisymmetric model.
Starcd identifes any surface not defined as a wall surface. I cannot put symmetry condition on the centerline face (because it is so small to identify). Still went ahead and ran the simulation. I notice that the results look okay. That is there is no boundary layer on the centerline wall which is very close to the y-axis. Globally the solution looks okay. But when I plot y+, this centerline shows up as a wall. Is this okay. Has anyone experienced this problem. Are there any negative ramifications from this? Thanks for any suggestions. |
