Hai cfd experts
Presently am doing torque converter cfd analysis using starcd.I am confused with the interface boundaries between stator-turbine,turbine-pump,and turbine-stator.What is the value to be specified there?Can anyone help me in solving this. Thanks and Regards Ramesh |

depends on your method: Multiple reference frame or sliding mesh. first one is steady state mehod, second one is transient.

Thanks Thomas.Am doing steady state analysis.I know only the mass flow entering the torque converter and the pressure at the entry and exit of torque converter.But asper starcd manual it says that we need to define pressure boundary at the upstream and downstream of pump,inlet boundary at the upstream of turbine and pressure boundary at the downstream of turbine,inlet in the upstream of stator and -ve inlet in the downstream of stator.Then only we can group the interface boundaries to use explicit approach.What values should I specify in these regions? Please help me.

you should do this in starccm+ with MRF and interfaces (for example mixing planes+no reflection option) or rigid body motions. An example is on the on-line help.

Thanks Paul.But I have created my grids and boundaries using ES-TURBO.Please can u help me in sorting out this problem within starcd.I want to use only starcd.

you can export your mesh from prostar (ngeom command or save the .ccm file in prostar v4) then import it into star-cm+
I was told es-turbo will be transfered to star-mm+ so it might be a good idea to get used to it |
