Hi all,
I am doing a heat transfer investigation of a fin and i amtrying to find the heat transfer coeeficient. When I select the Hcoef i only get some values of H in the base (which is where i defined the wall-temperature source fixed to 373). The value which i get are very big and they are not making any physical sense. I found somewhere in the forum that i have to do soemthing with the TBULK command in order to set the right temperature reference. Has anyone done that before? Kidnest regards |

Prostar has two heat transfer coefficients. Are you using "getw, htran" or "getw, hcoef, tbulk"? They can give significantly different results.

Many thanks for the reply,
I used both. And any of the output doesnt make sense to me. The other problem is that the calculated values are shown in the wall region ie in the base of the fin and not in the interaction f the fin with the fluid. Many thanks once again, regards |

I don't know. I've not seen that sort of behavior.
Are your boundary conditions correct? I'd go back and verify the fin and base region definition and settings. |

Yes i had a look. The heat transfer coeficient is very high both the hcof and the HTC
