Hi all,
I prepared a simulation based on the tutorial: Body Force Propeller Method: Marine Self-Propulsion, in STAR-CCM+, v11.02. When I want to make a report for a Longitudinal Thrust, Virtual Disk force report was not available in Reports, eventhough in User guide is written:
The following reports are available when the virtual disk model is activated:
•Virtual disk force report
•Virtual disk moment report
•Virtual disk angle report
•Virtual disk rotation rate report
•Virtual disk advance ratio report
Can you help me how to activate this report?
Since, 6DOF Body Force is available in Reports for mine simulation, can I select it and as a Force select an External Forces and Moments: Virtual disk force? If I can use this report, will I obtain a x-component of Thrust force, or magnitude of Thrust (and then I should use cos(abs($TrimDownReport))?

Thanks,
Andrea

You should be able to get longitudinal thrust out of the virtual disk thrust report. Not sure why the help files call it something else, it could be a hold over from a previous version that was not updated.

Thank you for reply.
I found out that when I create 6DOF, Virtual Disk force report is not available in Reports annymore. But, 6DOF Body Force is available in Reports and then one can select as a Force: an External Forces and Moments: Virtual disk force. I think this corresponds to the Virtual Disk force report.
