Hello,
I am trying to simulate flow past an AUV for deriving the lift and drag coefficients. The geometry of the AUV has been modelled in Rhino and the domain has been created in Starccm (Photo attached as AUV and Domain). The steps I followed are as follows:- 1. Boolean subtraction with the target as domain (block around the AUV). 2. Split surface of the subtract by patch for inlet and outlet determination. 3. Assign part for regions. 4. Automated meshing with following models (i) surface remesher (ii) trimmed cell mesher (iii) Prism layer mesher However, once I complete the surface meshing, the surface of the AUV is completely distorted (Photograph attached as AUV surface mesh). Further, when I try the volume mesh, an error message is displayed stating "surface is self-intersecting". Can anybody guide me with this? and will parts based meshing (PBM) give a better output (theoretically)? I tried surface wrapper on the AUV body before doing the boolean subtract. The output I got was missing two of the five control surfaces . What is the correct procedure for such geometries? Last edited by shashankshankar; May 4, 2018 at 04:54.
