Hi all,

New to CFD modelling. This might be very basic.

What I'm trying to do is add a porous cylinder block at the outlets of my geometry. However I'd also like to do a mesh extrusion as well to allow the velocity profile to fully develop at the outlet of my geometry. So what I'm wanting to have is:

Geometry that I'm working with + mesh extrusion + porous block

The only way I can think of adding this porous block is by extruding from the outlet as a separate region and defining it as a porous region. However if I do that, it removes the mesh extrusion I already created ...

So it seems like you cannot extrude from the outlet twice?

How do I go about achieving the mesh extrusion AND porous block extrusion at the outlet?

Thanks.

If you can't extrude twice then its probably easiest to create a CAD part or a shape and create your regions and interfaces from that.

I also question the validity of placing a porous region at your outlet. You may need an extrusion off of that to get your flow fully developed at your boundary.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your response! Yep, I’ve just been extending the outlet faces on the actual geometry itself using the surface repair tool. I’ll just extrude the porous blocks from the faces of the new geometry, extrude as a new region, and assign it the porous media physics model.

Thanks.
