Hey, guys
I'm running a transient simulation in Star CCM+ 11.02.

I wonder if it's possible to gain the averaged velocity at a point by field function,or other method. If possible, how to define the function.

Actually, I want to gain the Root Mean Square Velocity scene after a time at last.

Anyone can help me?I'll appreciate the help you provide.

Hi, what about trying the following way that might solve your problem:

Create a report of the average and choose the velocity magnitude field and the derived part i.e. a point in your case.

Thanks for your reply.

I searched the help document and found mass average, volume average and surface average.I think what I need is time average.Maybe I miss something.

ok so in transient case I would setup a derived part probe > point then create a report and monitor for velocity. Make sure the monitor is set to update at each time step, not each iteration then create a report plot from the monitor. Also, set the x-axis to physical time not iteration. You will get finally the time history for velocity vs time at each time step. For further details refer to user guide.

This would be a good use for a field mean monitor, search the user guide for details.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
By the way,I wonder if it is possible to obtain the Root Mean Square Velocity.

Hello

I don't know how many points you want to make.. but,

First, Make obserbe points
Second, Make Sum report (if you made 10 points, you should make 10 reports)
(Create sum reports and distribute one point for each report)

Third, Make expression report and set the RMS definition using sum report.
