Hello Guys..

I'am trying to modelize a boat moving in the waves. (I mean the waves moving around the boat..)

So, like i have seen in the tutorials i divide the boat in 2 symmetrical parts and then i mesh it,using the Overset mesh option.

I run the simulation and then i got errors like "The recevor can't find cells from the donor" or vice versa...

I know that the Overlap and the Overset parts have to have the same oder height cells..so i guess that the problem is not coming from that option.

I tried to verify what's going wrong and i found that at the mid plan, my mesh got a bunch of holes like you can see in the pictures and i don't know why.

I tried the simulate the entire boat, the simulation run fine and i didn't get anymore hole at that same plan, but you can guess it needs MORE time to get the results.

So , can you please help with that?

Looking at the image, I think the mesh size in overset and background region are not in the same order.

Is your plane section coinciding with symmetry plane? Did you try creating the plane section at different locations?
Are you monitoring all 6 DOF?

Hello Ubuntu,
There are in the same order 0.5m for the Overset and 0.55m for the Overlap (part of the Background)

Yes the plane section coincide with the symmetry plane since when i do the symmetry to show the boat at the Water surface, it give me exactly the entire boat...

I think you are getting those hole in the mesh because your symmetry plane and the plane section coincide. Try creating a plane with an offset, away from symmetry plane (just to check). I don't feel this has something to do with your overset error message.

Ok, just for me to be clear, can you post an image showing mesh inside the overset region and overlap area just near to overset region? (a more closer view compared to previous image)

hello..sorry for my late answer.
You said that the reason could be that my symmetry plane and the plane section coincide. Yeah..but when i realised one of the Tutorial section (Boat in head sea), i also realised the section at the symmetry plane and the result appears without holes.

Also, like i told you, when i realised the same steps(even the mesh was the same) with the entire boat, the simulation just run fine.
I tried to modify many time the height of the cells, it didn't work!!(that pissed me!)..i mean the initialisation works...but the simulation crashes every time at a certain point. But with the entire boat, i do not have problem.
The only time the half of the boat have worked it when i do the one in the Tutorial...and i even try to adapts it with my models ..to keep the same cells ..but guess what..
