Default How to solve an extra equation in Star-CCM+

Hi, everyone.

I am using Star-CCM+ 11.02 to perform some simulations related to specific flow with multi-components. And now, there is a question about how to solve extra mixture fraction transport equation and the variance of mixture fraction transport equation.
Is there anyone know how to do that? Please give me a hand on this question.

You might be able to do this with user code, but even that could be a stretch.

This is not really what STAR-CCM+ is good at. You should be looking at OpenFOAM.

They maybe able to hack it in using passive scalars and source terms too. Though I think they may want to contact CD-Adapco engineers.

Thanks for you suggestion. I do think that turning to other software is a good idea and I also know that in Fluent it's easy to solve extra equation by using UDF.
Before that, I'll try my best to realize it by StarCCM+.

contact engineers is the only way if I reached the dead end.

What kind of fraction of what kind of mixture? - Multi-component liquid or dispersed fraction?
What are the equations you want to solve?

You haven't told us what equation you want to solve.

Mixture fraction and variance of mixture fraction for example are part of the combustion models and you might be able to hack them.

The mixture is multi-component gas.
And the equations are the transport equations of the mean mixture fraction and the mixture fraction variance, as attached.

The equations are attached.
As what you pointed out, the mixture fraction and variance of mixture fraction are part of the FGM or other combustion models. I spent several days on how to do this. So do you have any idea on this?

Hi everyone

I am facing a similar problem,
trying to add concentration variance transport equation into STAR-CCM.
I guess that canbe achieved by usercode and library.
But I am not sure if there is a better solution.
Did anyone have a try on it?
