Hello all,

I'm modelling a 3D wing and wasn't getting a great mesh at my trailing edge it was more rectangular than it was curved, so I went back into my CAD and created the trailing edge as a separate body that I could add a custom surface control to. Now my issue is I cannot keep the trailing edge body separate from the rest of the wing when I perform a Boolean subtraction, no matter how many times I try rename surfaces differently before the Boolean operation StarCCM+ always goes against my wishes and combines surfaces with others. Maybe it's something simple that I'm missing but any help would be appreciated, I've attached some screenshots of how I would like to keep the wing as two bodies; wing (without TE) and the TE, the third screenshot is of the result StarCCM+ gives me.

Thanks

Would be easier just to split surface by imprinting a sketch for example.

Sounds confusing. Can you upload the simulation if that is possible? - Would make it much easier to deal with the problem.

Thank you for your response Chaotic Water,

What do you mean by split surface through imprinting a sketch?

Sure I can upload the simulation, I have named two bodies 'aerofoil front" and "trailing edge" the rest are the vortex generators.. what I am trying to achieve is for the "aerofoil front" and "trailing edge" bodies to not merge faces with one another after a boolean subtraction operation. The reason being is so I can add separate control surfaces to each in other to make the meshing process easier.

Thanks
