I believe that is Statics, which is the first Mechanical Engineering course. Strength of materials comes after, (but I'm sure this would be in a strength of materials book, as it is pretty fundemental)
To calculate the reaction forces: You have two unknowns R1, and R2. And Two equations: Sum of forces = 0; and sum of moments equal 0. Solve these two equations to find R1 and R2, easy. Posting a mechanical engineering homework problem on a CFD forum is definitely a bit strange... |
