Hi,

I’m new in SU2 and I am testing all the tutorials. I have had problems with the tutorials 7 and 8. I don’t know if this problem happens due to a bad installation or for another reason.

I have run tutorial 7 and 8 as follow:
· Tutorial 7 serial (FAILURE):
>shape_optimization.py –f rotating_NACA0012.cfg –n 1
· Tutorial7 parallel (SUCCESS):
>shape_optimization.py –f rotating_NACA0012.cfg –n 40
· Tutorial8 serial (FAILURE):
> shape_optimization.py –f inv_ONERAM6_adv.cfg –n 1
· Tutorial8 parallel (FAILURE):
>shape_optimization.py –f inv_ONERAM6_adv.cfg –n 40

Could it be a problem in the input file?
I attached the last part of the Tutorial8 (in serial) output.

The Tutorial 8 fails after ~38 Design steps. Could you please visualize the file history_project.plt to check if the optimizer has already converged.

Sometimes, once you are close to the local minimum, and due to the accuracy of the gradients, the optimizer tries big steps in the design variables that diverge the CFD code.

The tutorial 8 has already converged. However, I don’t understand what happens in tutorial 7, why are the results different in serial and in parallel?

The job has properly finished in parallel (80 iterations), but the job has stopped in serial (24 iterations).
