Description:
The numerical simulation of turbulent spray flames shall be performed with emphasis on the integration of 
detailed chemical reactions and their correlation to the mass evaporating rate of the spray.



Profound knowledge of two-phase flows, turbulence, and detailed chemical reactions in the framework of 
combustion are required. Monte-Carlo methods to solve the stochastic particle equations in the framework of 
the solution of transported probability density functions are helpful. Decent knowledge of programming 
languages such as Fortran or C++ are required.



The simulations will most likely be performed using the open-source software OpenFOAM which requires a 
deep knowledge of high-performance computing on large clusters.
