increase mesh near wall boundary

Hi,
I'm modeling a helical static mixer that has a total length of 2 meters and 0.1 m diameter. The helicals are 8.5 cm in length and 2 cm in width. The surface of the static mixer and the walls are set to no slip condition. When I run the standard automatic mesh (near proximity and curvature) with default settings I notice that I do not have a lot of elements near the wall but a lot of mesh near the helicals. What happens is that I end up losing a lot of flow at the main wall because of the no slip conditon. How can I introduce more elements near the edges all throughout my design. You have "a lot" near the helicals because of the proximity size function. It assures that you have the specified number of cells across any gap, in your case probably 3.
This mesh looks coarse in all areas. I would insert a body sizing to control the overall mesh size of the bodies, then insert Inflation to create prisms att the wall boundaries. Do some tutorials and you will get what i mean |

Hey,
I understand the use of the proximity function and the number of gaps. My question is more near surface boundary - how can I create a more refined mesh near the outer boundary surface since this is where I lose most of my flow. This was just a picture to illustrate what I mean my current mesh is no where near as coarse as this I was just trying to provide a visualization for an easier response. |

Are you using inflation? That is how you control the resolution near the walls
|
