Hey guys,

I have made a quick search, but couldn't find a thread related to my problem. If it exists, forgive me.

Here's my problem: I have a piston-cylinder mechanism which is connected to a tank that has quiscent water inside. The picture is below:

My parts and their boundary conditions are explained on the picture. Everything looks fine in ICEM CFD regarding boundary conditions, but when I open the mesh file in FLUENT, all I see is a single boundary condition even outlet is gone.

Any ideas guys?

diamondx will become famous soon enough
when you don't see your boundary condition in FLUENT. That means you have a problem of association. you did not associated your part (gemoetry) to your parts (shells). To make sure that piston wall for example is defined, try to uncheck it in the tree, and see if it becomes visible or not...

Thanks for the reply diamondx.

I did what you said and yes when I uncheck it in the tree, it becomes invisible; but I feel that there is another problem. Because when you said associating geometry to shells, that sounded me unfamiliar. Because I haven't done it while meshing. I have only created parts from related curves. I am not very experienced about ICEM CFD and in some tutorials I studied, there were no detailed explanation of boundary conditions.

So, let me explain you some steps of my meshing and thus, you can give me more detailed advices. My geometry is 2D. After creating geometry and creating a material point, what I did is associating the edges and curves, setting global mesh parameters for curves, having a rough mesh and then I modified edge parameters under blocking>pre-mesh parameters. Then I decided the mesh is fine and converted it to unstructured mesh. I created parts and defined boco's.

So what do you think?

Guys, I have solved the problem. I don't know what the problem is exactly; but here is what I had done:

First, I created the geometry and immediately I created the parts. Then I associated vertexs and edges, respectively. Rest is the same.

So the problem should be about vertexs or creating parts or both. Hope this helps someone in future.
