Hi Guys
I am using ICEM meshing tool but while modelling the geometry i give the inputs like inlet, outlet , wall etc but when the mesh is imported to Ansys the boundary conditions are missing only one boundary condition is there eg wall.
What should i do to get all the boundary condition ?

Have you set the appropiate boundary conditions for every face in your model before exporting the mesh to Fluent?

Hi!!
Yes while defining the geometry in ICEM i specifically defined each sides as either inlet, out or wall but when it is imported to Ansys all i can see is "wall" and there is no inlet or outlet due to which i cant proceed with the calculations. What should i do in such a situation ??

Hi Jithin,

One thing is define parts and other is assign boundary conditions to them. You need to define this before; go to:

Output -> Boundary Conditions

and set every part as you need

Hi !!
Well i tried that as well but it still shows the same. I went to outputs > Boundary conditions> Inlet >create new>velocity inlet , Outlet>create New> pressure outlet, Wall1> create New>wall , Wall2>create New>wall.
I did all these but still in Ansys when i open the mesh all it shows is :
wall 1
Int_fluid
Fluid

What should i do now ???

i think what FJSJ is saying is you need to have different parts in ICEM. I would make sure you have three seperate parts: inlet, outlet, wall for example. when the mesh is imported you will be free to change the boundary conditions of each individual part.

Hi!!
Well i didnt get you by what you meant that have three separate parts ?? My model is pretty simple model which is a rectangular box with a stub attached on the left side (which is considered as the inlet) can you please elaborate or even explain what should i do ?? Also there was a video on youtube which had a similar geometry and i followed the same things done by them, but the only difference is while they imported to ANSYS they had all the boundary conditions but i dont have all of them. Can you hep me ?

on the left hand side under model > parts... you must have one for each different boundary condition

you can right click to "create new part" then add the entities you want to be condidered that part. for example create a new part called inlet and when selecting entities click the curve (2d) or surface (3d) which is to be your inlet. do the same for outlet... whatever is left will be in the default part 'GEOM' you can use this as your walls.

Can you share your mesh?

Anybody knows how to mesh a sharp nose ogive cone of a fighter aircraft in ICEM CFD multi block topology?

Do you have lines per each specific part you define as a boundary condition?

Hi!!
Well i think i got to the problem, what is happening is that the part defined while imported to ANSYS is showing as a Single wall whereas it was clearly defined in the geometry individually like Inlet, outlet,wall1 and wall2. After importing the geometry is showing as the entire wall1, so now what should i do as i clearly defined each sides while making the geometry ?

Did you re-mesh after creating the parts? to recognize the different parts you must first create the parts and then mesh. if you have created parts but never remeshed the mesh still thinks it is all one part.
