Hi all,

Say that I have a 2d simulation with just a rectangle. I'd like to have the mesh be very fine near the bottom of the rectangle, and become increasingly larger as we move in the positive y direction. How is this done in fluent? The only thing I've found so far is the inflation method, but that isn't doing quite what I want- I ultimately need a triangular mesh and inflation always seems to force it to be rectangular.

Any and all input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe trias with bias meshing, read the tutorials on this available on Ansys customer portal. i am sure i have read about doing this before.

Hi sphagnum,

As hwet suggested, giving Bias factor on vertical edges will make sure you have fine mesh at start and coarse mesh at top depending on which Bias type you choose.

I am not sure about fluent but in
"Ansys Meshing>Use Advance Size Function> On proximity and Curvature" helps in achieving the same result with Given growth rate(depends on your size of your geometry)

Cheers

Ahhh yes, I thought there was something I was forgetting from the tutorials I had done. Thank you very much for the help.

Hi all,
So I've been adding an edge sizing with bias factor, but that only expands the mesh close to the edge. Is there a way to change this so that it applies to the entirety of the rectangle?

Thanks again!

Give a higher "Bias Factor" and it will cover your whole geometry!
