Default Howto sweep non-sweepable Bodies?

Hi Community,

my test model has a cylinder inside a cube. A third body covers the other two. (i attached geometry file).

Is there a way to mesh the the thin cover with the same mesh as the cylinder and cube are meshed? Sweepable bodies cant be used on the cover body ... is there way to sweep the cover body with one divison and the same base mesh the cylinder and cube have?

Hopefully somebody reads this and has a solution.

For sweeping the target faces and bodies throughout the mesh should be consistent. For example in your case if you make a slice in the thin body with is a cylinder as the cylinder in the bottom part then you will be able to sweep mesh it.

This will not affect you simulation since even if you end up having multiple faces on a side which initially had one face you can name them all as a wall, inlet, outlet by multiselecting them and then in the cfd solver apply the boundary condition. hope i make sense. also for a cfd case dont forget to change the body type to fluid, can be solid if it is a mechanical case. just saying... since i noticed it in the pictures.

hi hwet,

thx for the fast help. based on your hints i extruded the cylinder into the cover and than cut the bodies (see attached pictures).

The mesh now looks like i wanted. So it works fo this.

But i'm still looking for another way ... if i have more (many more) bodies like the cylinder i have to cut or slice each of them with the top layer.

I am trying to make this body sweepable ( https://ibb.co/cRJC8m )

What I do is:

- slicing the two lateral cylinders --> which become sweepable
- slicing the bottom part, i.e. restriction + bottom cylinder --> which become sweepable
- slicing the hemisphere and the centrale part separately BUT they don't become sweepable in any way.

Any help would be much appreciated
