Structured grid over a 3D triangular prism

Hello,
I am meshing a 3D triangular prism, or a wedge, to study the hydraulic jump formed by using the volume of fluids (VOF) method. In order to prescribe flow with a velocity, I have to assign a volume fraction of 1 to the cells that hold water. In order to do this, I need a structured grid at least to the top of the wedge. I'm attaching a few screenshots of what I have so far. I divided the wedge into 4 regions and attempted to use the mapped face meshing procedure. This seemed to work on the outer surfaces of the wedge and the enclosure, but when I take a cross section, the grid is unstructured. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can extrude the mesh, or maybe how to cast a structured grid up to the top of the wedge? |

hi currently i have the same issue, i must mesh a triangular prism thus to simulate a incled jet impingement, i use ansys mesh for that, how you've resolved this issue?

In Spaceclaim you split the body by the top surface of the wedge, then use Share topology, and then sweep the bottom part to get a structured mesh. You might get missing inflation just around the top edge, but it probably won't be a big problem if the top wedge surface has a fine resolution.
