Hi,

I'm new to this website so my apologies if this isn't the correct way to ask this question, I would appreciate any advice on the right way to use the forum.

In ANSYS ICEM CFD, I am trying to segment a circular curve by two points on the curve however I am getting the error that it could not split the curve. Is this because I concatenated several curves to make the circle beforehand?

Thank you for your help.

Hello MDN,

Yes, that happens to me sometimes, usually when there are two curves on top of eachother and it is selecting the wrong one. Try segmenting it where you need to prior to concentrating any curves.
As well, why not just make a circle with the given options (i.e. radius and 2 points) rather than concentrating curves?

Hi Kira,

Thanks so much for your reply. The 'circle' is irregular (as it's the opening of the heart's left ventricle) but I will try and segment it where I need to before concatenating the curves this time. Thank you for your help!

Gert-Jan will become famous soon enough
1) From the existing but unreliable curves, create new points, just by clicking on the curve. Or on a fraction of the curve, e.g. 0, 0.33 and 0.66.
2) Then delete all curves and points that are annoying, except for these new points.
3) Then create new straight lines between the new points.
4) Project these lines on the surfaces, to create curves on the surfaces.
5) delete the straight lines, if you not already did in step 4.
mluckyw and Alley like this.

Hello everyone

I would appreciate any help with the same subject.

I had the same problem in ICEM CFD. When I was trying to segment a circular curve by two points specifically in an intersection with another circular curve. I am getting the error that it could not split the curve. I have also tried create additional points in order to do the segmentation with these new points but it's impossible. Please could anyone give a recommendation or any suggestion?

Thank you for your help. I would appreciate any comments

I have been working with ICEM for 20 years and never found a solution, other than creating new circles or splines from from new points, using the procedure given above.

Thanks Gert-Jan

Your experience with ICEM is enough to check my subject. Thank you so much.
