Default ICEM-CFD: unsatisfying geometry display after import

Dear Community,

for my master-thesis I'm working with the CAD program Creo Parametric and the plug in for Ansys Workbench, due to do an parametric study in CFX.

The geometry I generated in Creo, with a very high quality display of the edges, appears after importing into ICEM not as smooth as I want it to.
See attached picture:

By lowering the the triangulation tolerance, like it is solution it is shown, question 5: http://www.cfdyna.com/CFDHT/ICEM_FAQ.html
doesn't help me either...

When I try to associate the lines to the curves in ICEM, I need to click more than once to get the curve, which implies there are more than one curve lying on top of each other, this in my opinion causes a failed mesh import into CFX-Pre.

Can someone give me a hint to avoid this problem?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Couple of hints.
  • If the geometry is simple enough, build it in ICEM CFD.
  • If importing from Creo try IGES and STEP file imports ( not sure what you are using at the moment).
  • Try building topology with tolerance = 1/10th of the smallest curve (try other values too as this is just a rule of thumb.
  • If the geometry is still problematic, try manually rebuilding the curves and then surfaces which are causing issues.

Solved the geometry display with: surface --> show full

my bad. I had the idea that your problem was multiple edges and all.
