Hi!
I started working on journal bearing recently to explore the hydrodynamics pertaining to the lubricant. I am considering the thin film regime alone and not the solid part for analysis. In this, first, the clearance is very small, somewhere around 30 microns. Second, due to eccentricity of the shaft, the gap reduces further in a particular region. At first, I tried meshing on ICEM CFD, but the cells seems to be of very poor quality (negative (-1) 3x3x3 quality cells) despite carefully splitting and associating the block edges. Thereafter, I tried to mesh it in workbench. I split the geometry first and then provide number of divisions on each edge and have applied sweep technique. Here again, I got very poor cells. I am using solidworks to generate the solid model, and saved the mesh in parasolid, step as well as ACIS format, but nothing worked. Any suggestion on the above would be a warm welcome. |
