i want to create hex mesh with ICEMCFD,two relative edges which seems to be pallaral each other. but actually, they are not showed when i select "to all parallel edges", just like 1w and 2w figture. i want to distribute the same nodes in the two edges. for example, when i set 3 nodes in second edge, the first edge became 15, but when i set 15 nodes in second edge, the first one became 27. i tried several methods such "linked bunching, to match the nodes number between these two edges, but unsuccessful. i want to know which causes this? any hint and reply is
Extremely grateful. thank you all. |

Hello,
First of all, I am no expert on ICEM CFD problems... Bur can't you use "copy to selected edges"? This might be a way around your problem. regards |

Can you post some screen shots of your geometry?

these two edges are below the transverse columns. actually, the geometry is symmetrical about middle. i thought these two edges will be considered to be the parellel pair. which way do you often use the "meshing parameters" to distribute the mesh nodes? and which mesh laws do you often use? thank you very much.

I am not sure but the linked bunching might be the cause of the changing number of nodes on the other edge. I use linked bunching to make sure that if you have two parrallel edges of the same length, where the second edge is composed of several smaller edges, that the sum of nodes on both edges is the same. (see the figure) Have you tried the parasms without using the linked bunching option? You might be able to set the number of elements on both edges seperatly to an equal amount than. |

You might be able to set the number of elements on both edges seperatly to an equal amount than.[/QUOTE] it makes me very nervous, i set the edges seperately according to what you said, abandoning linked bunching ( in fact, i am afraid of using linked bunching, because, when i want to discard this relationship between two edges, it is not allowed, who knows how to deal with it ?) next, i will show you the detail about my problem above, the total nodes are 29, edge1,2,3 is one total line whose nodes is 29, and the other total one consists of edge4,5,6. just showed as w1. now i set edge1,2,3 the 17,4,10 respectively, and then i set edge4,5,6 the same distributions accordingly. to my astonish, when i finished edge4,5,6 setting, the edge1,2,3 change into 14,4,13. the total nodes are the same ,but distribution is changed totally.why? what is wrong about ICEMCFD or what is wrong with my blocking, i am feeling hopeless. anybody tells me any hint and suggestion is great hope for me, thank you all. |
