Gambit isn't an Ansys product anymore.
So you won't be able to get any valid (and legal) license

No, that is not quite true. Gambit is still an ANSYS product and you can still get a valid license, it is just a "legacy product".
It is true that ANSYS is no longer actively developing Gambit, all the developers are working hard on the newer ANSYS Meshing or ANSYS DesignModeler products. This may also make it difficult to get official tech support help, but there are lots of tutorials and the worlds best Gambit help resource, -mAx- on CFD Online. Many customers are switching from leases to permanent seats, but both types of license are still available. They are just considered "legacy" products and you won't be able to get "TECS" (technical enhancements and customer support). But yes, you or your manager should give ANSYS a call and ask them to hook you up with what you need.
