Generating a 2d mesh from a 3d solid model in CFX (Workbench 15)

I am a somewhat new user to Ansys. I have a 3d solid model and would like to run a 2d flow analysis. Is there a way I can select a surface from my 3d model to generate a 1 element thick mesh in Ansys? All of the tutorials I have found use imported point clouds in design modeler.
