Hi guys. Can anybody give me some tutorial on how to mesh the 2D centrifugal fan in ansys workbench. Here we are dealing with rotating frame so i am not sure how do define solid fluid interface. I have made a sketch in ProE, whats the best way to import that to workbench? also can i import the sketch directly to ICEM and mesh there?

Hello,

Did you try MRF? (it stands for moving reference frame). I know this is used a lot in Icepak, but I have not used it in Workbench. I import lots of files from CAD to Workbench, but they are Solidworks files, so typically I import STEP file.

Hi Adriana! Yeah i have imported step/iges files to workbench using proE. But here we have a 2D fan, so do i need to generate a surface from the sketch before meshing in workbench or i can directly mesh a sketch? I am kinda new to ansys so i am not sure how to go about it. I dont even know if i can import a sketch in workbench. I have replicated the moving frame tutorial in the Ansys tutorial guide but there mesh was already available for the blower. I want to create my own geometry and mesh and i am confused whats the best way to do it.

you have to create a surfaces from your sketch then you will be able to mesh it. when you draw your sketch then it will show you 0 parts 0 bodies but when you make surface it will show you 1 part 1body
