Hello there,

I have written a code to generate an STL file containing volume mesh. Now, I need to specify inlet and outlet boundaries for flow simulation in FLUENT.

As you can see in the attached picture, there are many facets together which express one boundary. In practice, the geometries I am working on have much more facets on one boundary. So, I have to merge all of them together so that I can select a single surface as the inlet/outlet boundary.

I tried to use the Segment/trim surface tool in ICEM with no success. I could use it when I was working on imported STL geometries, but apparently, the tools in the "create/modify surface" section of ICEM are not working with imported STL mesh.

Any ideas on how to form a boundary in STL volume mesh is highly appreciated.

I read here (Defining boundary conditions STL file) that I should have split the geometry into some pieces to let ICEM create parts. I changed my code in a way to generate each boundary separately. I then imported different parts of the STL volume mesh in ICEM successfully.

Now, how can I use the imported mesh in Fluent? Fluent does not recognise the mesh yet. What steps do I need to take in ICEM?
