Has anyone else found CFDesign to be a little cumbersome to use? I've got serious issues with the software, in that more often than not, in order to get valid results, it requires some obscure setting to be changed. A setting that is usually buried down three menus. I'm not saying the solver isn't accurate, I think there are several challanges for the casual user to overcome to accurate results. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

Zr,
Please feel free to get in touch with me about your issues as i'd be glad to walk through them with you. I work for Blue Ridge Numerics (CFdesign) and would like to hear more about what challenges you are facing with the software. Thanks Apolo |

Thanks Apolo, but I'm working with an A.E. right now...and even he is unable to get it figured out.
My assessment is the software is great for very simple analysis. However, anything with any complexity requires a person to know all the little tricks and nuiances of the software, and that is just not a realistic expectation for an end user (besides a Blue Ridge engineer). I'm pushing for my company to buy the ANSYS module. |

ZR,
If possible, I'd still like to get some background as to the application that you are trying to run and where the trouble is, as this can help with development efforts for the new version due to release this Fall. If there is something that is not intuitive we can help make it more pronounced. If you have a few minutes give me a ring to discuss this. Thanks! |

Dear Ken,
I work for Mentor Graphics and we produce an excellent piece of CFD software called EFD - this runs inside all popular CAD packages so if you know how to use a CAD package you can run a CFD analysis. It is a very capable solver inside and I can almost guarantee we will be able to solve your problem. I would strongly advise you to consider it if you are looking at purchasing a new CFD system. I am not sure where you are based but if you let me know I can point you in the right direction for a local Mentor office. In the meantime our website is http://www.mentor.com/products/mechanical/ Thanks Matt Hieatt |
