Hello everyone,

I am trying to run AVL FIRE ESE DIESEL simulation on a 16 thread cpu (I7-7820X) but at the start an error appears saying that licensed number of users already reached. I use a university partnership program floating license. there was no mentioning on limiting by cores in agreement. Maybe I missed something? If someone could point me at the right direction I would be very grateful.

Best Regards,
Paulius

Hello Paulius,
I suggest to contact ast_license@avl.com they can help you. It could be helpful to provide some infos about your university and maybe you send the license file too.
Then it should be no Problem having your Problem checked.
bye

Not necessarily relevant to the underlying issue but: running more that 8 threads is probably not a good idea anyway since the CPU only has 8 cores.

Thank You for answers. I contacted the AVL and had the license upgraded. As for cores, I do have hyper threading enabled, so with 8 core license limitation it only allowed 50% (8 out of 16 threads) utilization of the cpu. I was considering disabling hyper threading, but i did some synthetic benchmarks and it seemed to worsen the performance. I haven't done comprehensive testing of Fire with and without hyper threading so if someone did tested this maybe they can share the results.
Once again thanks to everyone for support
