# Average Temperature vs. Location, Star-CCM+

 March 10, 2008, 18:22 Average Temperature vs. Location, Star-CCM+ #1 new2CFD Guest   Posts: n/a I am new at this, but I am running STAR-CCM+ 2.08.007 and am simulating fluid flow in a solid pipe with heat transfer (3D). I am having trouble figuring out how to generate a plot of the Average Temperature vs. Location Is there an easy way to do this, or do I need to create a user-specified field function to average the temperature at different locations along the length of the pipe?

It would probably be a good idea to upgrade to the latest version (3.02) too as you can produce constrained sections which you will need if there is much of a curve in the pipe.

I am trying to generate a plot for a relatively long section and am trying to avoid having to create a large number of plane sections individually to achieve the desired data resolution. I will look into downloading the upgrade.

I'm not having trouble monitoring or plotting temperature, just looking for a good way to plot the Average Temperature profile. thanks for the replies

 March 13, 2008, 15:57 Re: Average Temperature vs. Location, Star-CCM+ #7 Adam Guest   Posts: n/a if a constrained plane section slice is giving the average you want, you could fairly easily make a java macro to change the location of the slice and report the value out to a file. I did a similar thing when I needed point values for temperature and velocity at ~100 different points.
