Hi all,

I'm looking for someone with a high level of proficiency with Ansys Workbench and Fluent to help conduct a study on the aerodynamic characteristics of the DrivAer model with the estate-back form.

There are three tasks that I need help completing:

  1. A mesh independence study of the baseline DrivAer model, using Spaceclaim to prepare geometry and defeature it before meshing. The study must use symmetry to conduct the simulations over half of the body of the car in order to save time and computational costs. Moving Reference Frames must be in place to simulate rotating wheels.
  2. Design of Experiment for a Roof Spoiler: Using three geometric parameters for the shape and position of the spoiler, which will each be tested at three different values (for a total of nine simulations), with the effects of adding the spoiler compared to the baseline model.
  3. Design of Experiment for a Rear Diffuser: Similar to the above, but this time for the purpose of determining the design of a rear diffuser to go with the previously determined spoiler configuration.

Ideally, I'm looking for someone with prior experience in simulating car models with moving ground and rotating wheels using Ansys Fluent and some experience with Design of Experiment approaches. You also must have the ability to generate very fine meshes (ranging up to 50 million cells) and run simulations very quickly, as the timescale for this project is 6 days [must be completed by Thursday 9th June 2024]. This brief is for help with a student project at university. I have already planned out the entirety of the project, and will be collating the data and writing the subsequent report myself - I only require someone to prepare and run the simulations to help collect the data required, and will provide a spreadsheet with tables in it so that you can fill it in with values obtained as well as some screenshots/plots.

I can also produce parametric Solidworks files for the spoiler and diffuser as you work on the mesh independence study, or if you feel as though you could do it yourself based on the instructions we can go down that path as well.

I recently paid £200 to hire someone else for help, but they have unfortunately failed to deliver without any recompense and so my personal finances (and allowance for time) have been significantly reduced. I would, of course, not expect anyone with the required level of expertise and computing power to work for free (although, I won't complain if you do ), and am more than willing to discuss payment options, whether that be a lump sum down the line, or an initial fee right now and then an added sum at a later date (I will be working over summer and will be able to pay then). Please do keep in mind that I am still working on a very tight student budget regardless.

Hi,

Shall I perform the analysis in OpenFOAM? If so, you can reach me at prasant.karedla@gmail.com

The subforum's sticky thread [here] clearly states that students should not come and subcontract their academic or thesis work. If this is for marks, you should be doing the work yourself so you actually earn your degree. Moderators, is this allowed?

if he is a student, then he can be helped with the technical side of the project, but he will have to independently interpret the results and write a report.

What do you mean by "helped with the technical side?" If it is asking questions, being referred to tutorials, or so on, yes. But if it is paying someone else to do the CFD work for you, then I disagree. The sticky thread says this:

Also, I often get proposals from students who are willing to pay for help with their thesis work. From an ethical point of view, I refuse to help them. One should not buy a thesis. I think students should do the main work by themselves since it is their proof of being capable of doing the CFD work. I don't want them to cheat.
The sentiment is that the students should do the CFD as well, themselves. There is a whole forum here that they can post questions or ask for advice on.

Based on your description, I understand that you need help with three tasks related to aerodynamic simulation of the Estate-back DrivAer model using Ansys Workbench and Fluent. I will provide some suggestions for how you can find people with the necessary qualifications and experience, as well as how to reach people who can support your project.
