Centreline of a 3D Geometry

Dear all,
I need to find the centreline of 3D arterial models in CFD Post.
Does any body have an idea of finding the centreline of a 3D model?

Define a series of cross sections along the length of the object. Find the centroid of each cross section (sum(y*area)@CrossSection/area()@CrossSection or something like it to find the y location of the centroid for a cross section). Then put a polyline through the centroid points.

I need to find the normalised vector of centreline and dot product it by velocity to determine the extent of flow recirculation. Is this doable?

That will be tricky analysis to do in CFD-Post. I would generate the centreline as I describe in CFD-Post, but probably do the dot product to get your recirculation number in an external package. I would use python, but matlab is another good choice.
