I took care to include Wall Shear as an extra variable to keep in Trn results, but when I tried to plot a contour at the transient time steps, nothing shows up (i.e. the wall is simply transparent). The same when I tried just the X,Y, or Z components. However, the contour does show when I choose the final time step. What is going on here? Thanks.

I hope this is a clue as to why the Wall Shear is not available in my transient results, although it hasn't helped me. I set a monitor point for various variables in a transient run and the Wall Shear ones are excluded. I suspect the Wall Shear requires a somewhat different treatment than do most variables because it exists only on the wall, but how? I have verified that my specified location is indeed on the wall.

Code:
Monitor Point: WSS

   Domain: Default Domain
   User specified location (r,t,a) : 2.574E-03, 5.236E-01, 2.100E-02
   User specified location (x,y,z) : 2.229E-03, 1.287E-03, 2.100E-02

Excluded variables from output variable list:
                        Wall Shear X
                        Wall Shear Y
                        Wall Shear Z

Valid variables from output variable list:
                        Velocity u
                        Velocity v
                        Velocity w

Hi,

I have the same problem. Do you know how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes its a bit tricky. I had a similar case once, where a derived variable didn't show, because another variabel was missing. You need the velocity gradient to calculate wall shear, so I suppose including it in trn files will enable Post to calculate wall shear.

Haven't used CFX in a while, so not sure if it can be included from the variable list.

Opaque will become famous soon enough
Woud you mind showing the output control setup for the transient file you requested?
