Can somebody explain what is the significance of domaine imbalance for momentum equations ? I understand the significance for mass equation but not for the others ...

Also, in solver control, if ''conservation target'' is desabled, is the default value of the conservation target (0.01) still applied ?

Opaque will become famous soon enough
Let us see

Continuity equation = conservation of mass --> imbalance is a mass sink/source that has not been removed, or still left

Mometum equation = conservation of linear momentum or force balance --> imbalance is a net force (sink/source) still left to be removed

Energy equation = conservation of thermal/total energy --> imbalance is a net amount of energy (sink/source) still left to be removed

species equation = ....

Hope the above helps,

Yes, I seem it's clear.

So, if I have a big imbalance in Y Momentum equation this means that the equilibrium of Y forces is not verified, am I right ?

And what about my question about 'conservation target' option ?

If ''conservation target'' is disabled then you're no longer using it as a convergence criteria.

When it is enabled you're telling the solver to stop the simulation when:
- The minimum number of iterations has been achieved
- And when the residuals have fallen to your value you want (usually 1E-4)
- And when the global imbalances are less than 1% (0.01).

Hemishmistry04 and chongbazh like this.
