Greetings,

is somebody else facing CFX chrashes after the Windows 10 Creators Update?

In more detail...
Everytime I set CGNS Surface or Dipole Exports in the Output Control tab in CFX-Pre, after choosing a surface out of the list (with the [...] button on the right - not via the drop down list!!) my computer freezes for about 5-15 seconds and restarts.

I'm stuck here... I tried almost everything, reinstalled Ansys, updated any driver, did memory scans, system scans... nothing, it still crashes.

I already sent an email to the customer support but I'm still waiting for an answer. Could somebody with CFX 17.2 and Windows 10 Creators Update check if this happens too... please

Thanks
Chris

I am running ANSYS V18 (have not upgraded to 18,1 quite yet) on Win 10 Creators update. Works fine for me. And you can be sure this has been extensively tested, so if there was a problem ANSYS would know about it by now.

I see you are on V17.2 - this is an old version, so an obvious response is to upgrade to the current version.

Thank you. I already assumed that upgrading will be the way to go.. Still waiting for Ansys to respond but my guess is that they will say the same.

I had crashes with CFX-Pre 17.1 since the Creators Update. Happens every time i set the Timestep Interval for the Transient Results, on 3 different Workstations. So it is not just you.
I just use the CCL Editor for now.

Good to know I'm not allone ;-)
Using V18.1 doesn't help by the way - same crash at the same clicks.
An Ansys engineer was able to recreate the crash using diagnostic data from my workstation. They currently work on a solution.. at least they told me.
I went back to the old windows version and everything works fine again
